God Is Calling You..........

Have you ever heard someone calling you?

Have you ever considered that it may be God? Recently I heard a voice calling me. My name was spoken gently just once and it caused me to stop and wonder, "who just called me". The voice sounded so familiar. The Lord knows exactly how to get our attention. He will use anyone or anything to get our attention. For Moses, it was a burning bush (Genesis 3:1-15).

I was staying at a hotel and as I was walking off an elevator while scrolling social media, I had my head down in my phone. I wasn't paying attention to my direction much less focused on where I was going. I somehow assumed I was going in the right direction. This assumption was faulty because I had never been to this particular place. Why would I think I could be careless in my movements towards my destination as I had never been to this place before? Well, as you may have guessed it, I went the wrong way. I didn't pay attention to the plaque on the wall that pointed out the direction of the room numbers. You know, the plaque that shows you the rooms 200-230 ➡️, and rooms 230-250 ⬅️. I didn't watch out for the sign 😳. It was there, yet, I didn't honor it or hold it as important. Beacaue, I was distracted and focused on something else instead of the destination. As I was walking, I heard my name called gently, and faintly, just once. I looked behind me and no one was there. However, I looked up and noticed that I was going in the wrong direction 😳. The voice that I heard stopped me and caused me to notice that I was off course. I was then able to change my direction and reroute to my destination.

This experience reminded me of the boy Samuel in the book of Samuel 3rd chapter verses 1-10. "The boy Samuel ministered before the Lordunder Eli. In those days the word of the Lord was rare; there were not many visions. One night Eli, whose eyes were becoming so weak that he could barely see, was lying down in his usual place. 3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down in the house of the Lord, where the ark of God was.4 Then the Lord called Samuel.

Samuel answered, “Here I am.” And he ran to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”

But Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.” So he went and lay down.

Again the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”

“My son,” Eli said, “I did not call; go back and lie down.”

Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.

A third time the Lord called, “Samuel!” And Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am; you called me.”

Then Eli realized that the Lord was calling the boy. So Eli told Samuel, “Go and lie down, and if he calls you, say, ‘Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, “Samuel! Samuel!”

Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”

Samuel was hearing God's voice call him and he didn't perceive that it was God. The Priest Eli helped Samuel to perceive that Gods voice calling him. God wanted to give Samuel instructions. As I began to hear the Lord and process this experience with the Lord. I heard Holy Spirit encouraging me, and I want to share that encouragement with you. How often are we distracted, off course and signs are given to guide us yet we ignore them? I heard Holy Spirit saying, "Even as many may find themselves in new places and spaces do not become distracted but focus on where He's leading you by paying attention to the signs He's already provided you". He began to further encourage me by saying, "when you miss my promptings or direction I'm faithful to speak and course correct you. I will never allow my child to become loss and miss Me. It is your humility that allows Me to correct your life and your course. As you remain humble I will always speak to you, find you, and correct your course". Blessings as you navigate the terrain of what seems new with the Lord.
